Tablet catches fire in hands of 9-year-old boy

A woman said her son was playing with his tablet when it started making a cracking noise and caught fire.

CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — Nine-year-old Andrew Walker spends lots of time on the tablet, mostly for fun and games.

“I was playing it, and then I heard a noise, and so I threw it,” Walker said.

Andrew’s mother, Trina Walker, said the tablet caught fire and burned a hole in the carpet floor.

Walker said she called Samsung and she hopes it is just an isolated incident.

She said she has never heard anything like this and that the company representatives sounded surprised.

Samsung sent Walker an email saying they would be investigating the incident.
