GA-400 reopens after suspicious package investigation

ATLANTA — Atlanta firefighters closed the Georgia 400 northbound ramp heading to Lenox Road and eastbound lanes of Lenox Road at Georgia 400 as police investigated a suspicious package that someone left on the median Tuesday.

News Chopper 2’s Jason Durden flew over the scene around noon. Authorities told him the tote bag under investigation may be lunch that a construction worker left behind. But they took extra precautions considering recent reports of suspicious packages.

At 1:41 p.m., Atlanta police said it was a false alarm.

"Old food in the suspicious container," Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones told Channel 2 Action News.
