ALPHARETTA, Ga. - Parents are on high alert in Alpharetta after reports of a suspicious man lurking near a community pool.
"One of our parents witness (sic) strange activity in the Will's Park parking lot today," the email said. "A white man (approximately 6'2', 250 lbs., 30 yrs. old) circled the pool parking lot in a gold early model Toyota Camary (sic) (no hub caps) at least a half dozen times, parked his car near the empty baseball field, and took off his shorts."
Alpharetta police confirmed to Petchenik that a call about the man came in through the 911 center, but when officers arrived at the park about 11 a.m.
Thursday, the man was gone.
Police told Petchenik they believe the man was wearing a
"Alpharetta police will continue to conduct patrol activities," said police spokesman George Gordon in an email to Petchenik. "Citizens are reminded to contact Alpharetta 911 if you witness any suspicious behavior."
Petchenik talked to several parents at the pool Friday who were unaware of the suspicious man report.
"Nothing," said Jennifer Gilmer, who was with a group of day campers from Sandy Springs. "Had no clue. Surprising."
Gilmer said if the man was up to no good, that would be concerning.

Shannon Moretz was at the pool with four kids. She told Petchenik she'd be keeping an eye out just in case.
"As a parent you definitely get concerned when you hear about stuff like that," she said.
