Suspect named in hit-and-run that killed 2-year-old

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police named a suspect in a hit-and-run that killed a 2-year-old boy and injured his sister.

Investigators told Channel 2's Ryan Young that Concepcion Cruz was behind the wheel of a truck that struck Caleb and Maria Lindsey.

Witnesses said the driver of a white pickup raced through the parking lot of the Walmart on Tucker Norcross Road on Saturday, struck the children and didn't stop.

Vashiti Lindsey told Young she screamed for the driver to stop after the incident.

“He murdered my baby in cold bold. He ran over my children like they were rocks on the street,” Lindsey said.

Police said Cruz is a resident alien from El Salvador and is also on the do not fly list. Agents from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are now involved in the search.

Surveillance video showed Cruz driving a white Toyota Tacoma with a camper on the back.

The family has set up a donation website to help pay for the funeral for little Caleb.

Channel 2's Ryan Young is constantly in contact with investigators and will have new information for Channel 2 Action News starting at 4 p.m. and wsbtv.com.
