A suspect in the case is already in custody.
Channel 2 Action News learned that 28-year-old Ronnie "Jay" Towns turned himself in to the Telfair County Sheriff's Department Monday morning. He has not reached the jail yet and has not been formally charged.
Towns is accused in the disappearance of Bud and June Runion, of Marietta. They were last seen Thursday leaving for Telfair County to buy a car they found on Craigslist.
Telfair County Sheriff Chris Steverson said Towns was the last person to talk to the couple, via phone, before they disappeared.
Authorities told Channel 2 Action News the Runion's car was found in a pond near Jacksonville, Ga.
Channel 2’s Liz Artz spoke to the couple’s daughters, who became worried when their parents did not show up to babysit their grandchildren on Friday.
“We are worried that someone might have done something bad and taken advantage of them," daughter Brittany Patterson said.
Bud Runion is a Vietnam War veteran, his daughters told Artz.
They said the couple left with their cellphones and chargers, but that no one had heard from them since 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
