Suspect dies after deputies shot him in domestic dispute

CANTON, Ga. — Cherokee County Sheriff's officials say deputies responding to a domestic dispute shot a suspect, who later died from his injuries.

Deputies found the unidentified suspect outside the home at 320 Hideaway Acres firing a 45 caliber handgun and ordered him to drop the weapon, according to a Cherokee County Sheriff’s statement. When he refused, he was shot by deputies.

Cherokee officials said three deputies involved in the incident have been placed on routine administrative leave with pay, pending a GBI investigation.
