Man uses pepper-spray to rob Goodwill store (Video)

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — Woodstock police are searching for a man accused of burglarizing a Goodwill store on Saturday afternoon.

Police are seeking help from the public in identifying the man, who was caught on surveillance video pepper-spraying a store clerk, grabbing a cash drawer and fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man left the scene in a silver or gray Honda Odyssey van and headed in an unknown direction, according to police.

The Goodwill store is located at 9425 Highway 92 in Woodstock. The robbery was reported around 1:30 p.m., according to investigators.

Police say the same suspect robbed a Goodwill store in Marietta, Douglasville, and one on Highway 92 over the weekend.

Officers met with the store clerk who said that a male entered the store, and after a brief time surveying her register, he approached her and pepper-sprayed her face before grabbing the cash drawer.

The clerk is still recovering.

Shoppers spared no words in ridiculing the man they call a coward to Channel 2's Tom Regan.

"It's pretty pathetic. I mean, people come here to donate things and help other people," said shopper Victoria Williams.

Shopper Dan Holmes told Regan he shops regularly at Goodwill stores and said it's despicable someone would target a non-profit that serves the community with affordable clothing, household items and jobs.

The suspect was described as a middle-aged white male, heavy set with some facial hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a plaid shirt, blue jeans, black shoes, and a camo 'safari' hat.
