Suspect in 23-year-old's killing gets bond

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News has learned a Gwinnett County judge has granted bond for a man accused of shooting and killing a 23-year-old who pulled into his driveway.

Friends who were in the car said they mistakenly pulled into the wrong driveway along Hillcrest Drive in Lilburn, where 69-year-old Phillip Sailors lives. They said there was a GPS mix-up.

Sailor's attorney said when he and his wife heard noises outside they thought someone was trying to break in Saturday. Lilburn police said Sailors fired the shot that killed Rodrigo Diaz.

Sailors was arrested on murder charges. A judge granted him a $10,000 property bond Wednesday afternoon. His attorney said the only gun he owned was the .22-calibur handgun used during the shooting. It is now being held as evidence.
