14-year-old found with loaded gun at school

COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — A 14-year-old student is in a lot of trouble after bringing a handgun to school Friday.

Sheriff officials told Channel 2's Liz Artz that other students at Lee Middle School got wind the teen had the gun and they told the school resource officer.

Parents of students at the Sharpsburg school off Willis Road got an alarming notification just after 10:30 a.m.

Coweta County sheriff's deputies said they took the boy into custody for bringing a 9mm gun to school. Investigators said they searched the boys bookbag, where they found the weapon.
