Stray bullets zip through home, nearly hitting family

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Neighbors said they are scared to stay in their home after bullets ricocheted through some DeKalb County apartments in an overnight shooting.

Dekalb County dispatch confirms they received several phone calls of shots fired at the Aspen Woods Apartments on Flat Shoals Road.

Latrina Wynn showed Channel 2 Action News the shattered glass and the holes from the five bullets that went right into her second-floor apartment.

"Thank God I didn't get hit, from where I was sitting if I hadn't have moved, I wouldn't be here today," Wynn told Channel 2's Rachel Stockman

Wynn said one of the bullets also went through her daughter's bedroom.

"I don't know who did the shooting, who was the gunman, the only thing we know there was a bunch of shooting," Wynn said.

Neighbors report hearing about 30 gunshots at about 11 p.m. on Friday night. Luckily, no one was injured.

"We used to be comfortable in this building because it was older people. When they started moving in the younger people in, it is always something," said Vanita Range.

Wynn said she just wants someone from the apartment's management to clean up the mess left behind and make sure her unit is secure.

"They should have fixed my window. I have to sleep like this for the next three days," Wynn said.

"This was very scary. You can't sleep at night because you don't know what is going to happen," Range said.

Someone from the apartment complex who answered the maintenance line told Channel 2 Action News they couldn't talk about what happened.
