State: Thousands of Social Security numbers accidentally emailed

ATLANTA — Thousands of people are concerned about their personal information after the state accidentally emailed out their Social Security numbers.

A worker sent sensitive information for nearly 4,500 people from the Georgia Department of Labor's Cobb-Cherokee career center.

State leaders said the email inadvertently went to 1,000 people due to an employee error. The Department of Labor said it has notified recipients to delete the email.

The state will offer free credit monitoring to everyone affected.
