Woman says she ducked for cover during drive-by shooting

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A south Fulton County family had to duck for cover Tuesday night when drive-by shooters opened fire on their home.

Neighbors were able to get video of the attack. The video shows a white sedan rolling down Lakerock Drive and then firing around a dozen shots.

The homeowner says her family, including a 7-year-old child, was home at the time.

Tiffany Hunter told Channel 2 Action News she didn't know what to think when she heard the gunfire.

"I'm like it cannot be shots," she said. "It has to be firecrackers."

However, when she got up from taking cover and checking on her children, she spotted bullet holes.

There were holes in the ceiling, through the front door, a window and even in her car tire.

"To be here and feel like I'm in a war zone in my own home, that's baffling to me," Hunter said.

She says she still has no idea why her home was targeted.

Even the neighbors' property caught a few bullets.

One woman says her children were about to step outside to play.

"I didn't go to sleep until about 3 a.m. because I kept thinking about the what-ifs," she said. "What if we had been standing on the front porch with the boys who are 3 and 5?"

"It's more than a shame because how do I explain it to my 7-year-old?" Hunter said.

Witnesses say the shooters were in a white Chevrolet Monte Carlo with tinted windows and black rims.

Hunter says the car has a loud muffler and says her husband saw the car return to the neighborhood Wednesday.

Neighbors are speaking out because they want help identifying the people who did this.

"We're not going to be victims," Hunter said. "I'm not going to be scared in my own home. I'm going to speak out."
