Thieves break into gospel singers' car outside popular restaurant

EAST POINT, Ga. — Thieves broke into a car belonging to well-known gospel artists and actors David and Tamela Mann outside a popular East Point restaurant.

The Manns were enjoying a moment of down time Monday afternoon when they walked into a Red Lobster on Camp Creek Parkway.

David Mann says they were just about to sit down at their table when someone ran in to tell them a thief was in their car. %

Without hesitation, David Mann says he ran out and hit the suspect's car, but he and his daughter had to jump out of the way as it sped off.

“You ever been to the point when something happens to you, you just want to cry?" Mann said in a video posted on Facebook.

No one was hurt, but the suspects got away with a backpack, an iPad and a MacBook Pro, jewelry and the victims' IDs.

Please just bring us our ID,” Tamela Mann pleaded on Facebook. “My passport is in there. His passport is in there.”

East Point police believe the suspects are young men and part of the same group responsible for a string of break-ins.

"It's sad for anybody who has ever had this happen. It's just a horrible feeling,” Tamela Mann said.
