Police chase leads to officer-involved shooting

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — The Fulton County Police Department says shots were fired following a police chase on Old National Highway on Wednesday.

Someone called 911 and told them they spotted their friends stolen SUV on 5400 block of Old National Highway. When officers got there, they say the man in the SUV refused to cooperate and then started ramming their cars.

"He rammed two police cars that were in front of him. He also hit my car to as he backed up," witness Byron Underwood said.

Underwood says when the driver pinned one officer against a car, the officer opened fire.

"When he went to the left, the officer's chest was actually on the car, so he (fired). He was flat up against the vehicle," Underwood said.
