Multiple people shot at apartment complex

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Police are investigating a deadly overnight shooting in south Fulton County.

Police say the victims are family members.

They say one man shot two people, killing one of them, before being shot himself.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner has identified the victim as Robert Wright, 59, from College Park.

College Park police were called to South Hampton Estates on Godby Road around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

They found three people shot inside an apartment.

Police say there was a small get-together of family and friends with a total of nine people there at the time.

A fight got physical and led to the first man getting a handgun and shooting two people; one died and the other was seriously injured.

That's when investigators believe another family member also pulled a gun and fired back.

"The person who actually did the shooting is in our custody right now. We're in the process of talking with him. The resident who initiated the first shots, was shot and killed on scene,” Chief Keith Meadows said.

Homicide investigators are talking to everyone involved, but they say it appears the second man who shot  the first shooter may have acted in self-defense.

He was taken into police custody.
