Father shot to death at front door of home

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Police say a man was shot and killed by an intruder in front of his home in south Fulton County.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. Monday on Gossamer Street in the Oakley Township subdivision.

Police said Solomon Williams, 58, was shot and killed in the doorway during a struggle with the intruder.

“I hear boom. I say, ‘Oh my God. What’s that?’ I saw him slowly come down,” said the victim’s wife, Louisa Williams.

“I saw him struggling to push the door, like somebody was pushing, forcing to come in. I’m like, ‘What is going on?’” Louisa Williams said.

Police are searching for a person of interest who was seen on video walking in the neighborhood before the shooting.

“It is our belief that somebody in that subdivision knows exactly who this person is,” Fulton County police Lt. Roger Peace said.

Channel 2’s Nefertiti Jaquez spent Tuesday night with officers as they scoured the subdivision for clues.

Investigators said while trying to get away, the shooter left their flip flops behind. They said the footwear will be analyzed for DNA.

Louisa Williams said she was robbed of her soulmate.

“God made him for me. He was everything to me. He was everything to my family,” she said.

Police said they will be canvassing the neighborhood until they gather enough information to find the killer.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral costs.
