Man admits to killing his pregnant girlfriend, police say

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — The man charged with shooting and killing his girlfriend inside their College Park apartment waived his first appearance before a judge.

Police identified the suspect as Reginald Jones, of College Park. Jones is currently at the Fulton County Jail.

College Park police tell Channel 2's Audrey Washington that shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday, Jones shot his girlfriend Faith Bittinger, 23, one time in the chest. Washington learned from family that Bittinger was pregnant.

Police say Bittinger died inside the Camp Creek Parkway apartment that she shared with Jones.

Detectives told Washington that Jones confessed to the shooting, saying it was all an accident.

Washington spoke with the victim's family about their loss, just a day after she passed away.

"Sound stops and your heart drops, there's just nothing you can do because the sadness is so overwhelming,” family member Nick Byers said.

"As soon as they started dating, he seemed okay, but I had a feeling about him,” stepsister Olivia Martin said.
