Grandmother of infant who survived fatal crash speaks

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A mother was killed in a crash on Highway 138 in south Fulton County while returning to work after breastfeeding her baby. We spoke with the man who rescued the mother's infant from the crash wreckage.

The mother-in-law of Michelle Green, the woman killed in the crash, says her daughter had just left work Wednesday afternoon to breastfeed her baby, Michaela.

Green was heading back to work just for a few minutes when her Jeep was T-boned by a truck on Highway 138 at Bethsaida Road.

Green's mother-in-law, Shilesta Ryals, believes she knows why the accident happened.

"Her car would stall, once she take off it would stop on her and stall and then it would just jerk into place and go, and I know that's what happened," Ryals said.

Thanks to Miguel Willis, baby Michaela survived the crash.

"The truck hit the Jeep pretty hard," Willis said.

After he witnesses the accident he jumped out to help.

"Get the door open and get the child out, because the Jeep caught on fire," Willis said.

Michaela is recovering at the hospital with family members by her side. She has no idea her mother was killed.

"I pray to God that his will is done, but that he will save my granddaughter that he will let her live, because we want her here with us," Ryals said, "I'll dedicate my life to raising her and making sure I treat her as well as her mother treated her."
