SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A 12-year-old boy has died several weeks after suffering heatstroke during football practice at a south Fulton County park.
Johnny Tolbert was at practice at Welcome All Park in south Fulton County on Jul. 14 when he collapsed during conditioning drills. It happened around 7:30 p.m. when the outside temperature was right around 90 degrees.
Tolbert has been in the hospital with severe brain damage since that day. He died Thursday, his family told Channel 2's Matt Johnson.

Doctors ruled Tolbert’s cause of death a heatstroke.
It was Tolbert's first year with the Welcome All Panthers league and he had no prior medical conditions.
After his collapse, the league suspended football practice at all Fulton County parks.
