Shots fired at great-grandmother's house

ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — A Rockdale County neighborhood is vowing to look out for one another after someone shot at a great-grandmother's house on Thursday morning.

The woman told Rockdale County sheriff's deputies that someone fired six shots at her house near Rockdale Lake.

The house on Hill Circle was hit five times, including on the side of the house where she and her great-granddaughter sleep at night. %

"She started screaming because it woke her up and it scared her," the great grandmother said.

She asked not to be identified, but said one bullet came a couple feet from hitting her headboard.

Her next door neighbor, Calvin Jacobs, heard the gunshots around 4 a.m.

"To shoot randomly like they did, they didn't know where those bullets were going,” Jacobs said.

He said a dark colored SUV parked in his driveway before someone inside opened fire then sped away.

He said he has a message for the shooter if he returns.

"I'll shoot back," Jacobs said. "I'm willing to defend my place and I’ll defend my neighbors."
