Sandy Springs home crushed by tree while family slept

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - High winds are being blamed for pushing a huge tree onto a north Fulton County home while a family slept inside.

Homeowner Todd Ehrlich showed Channel 2’s Rachel Stockman photos of his bedroom after it was crushed by the tree. The room is unrecognizable.

Ehrlich said his family was asleep in their Sandy Springs home on Mystic Place at 4 a.m. when the tree came crashing into his bedroom. He said a branch fell between him and his wife on their bed.

"It was like a thundering crash, as you can imagine. I somehow opened my eyes and could see the stuff falling and my wife was already screaming," Ehrlich said.

Ehrlich said his wife has minor scratches on her face, but he is just grateful that no one, including their children and relatives staying with them, was hurt.
