Safe, $11K worth of cigarettes stolen in Woodstock burglary

WOODSTOCK, Ga. — Cherokee County detectives are looking for burglars who hit the West Market in Woodstock.

The burglary happened on Hickory Flat Highway on Monday, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. Deputies said two men masked in sheer stockings disabled the alarm and outdoor security cameras to enter the store around 12:15 a.m.

The thieves stole $11,250 worth of cigarettes and a safe containing "a large, undisclosed amount of cash," the sheriff's office said in a news release.

Surveillance video captured two men in the store, and one of them was using a phone or handheld transceiver. That leads authorities to believe at least one more person was involved, possibly serving as a lookout.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cherokee detectives at 770-928-0239.
