ALPHARETTA, Ga. - Police say a bank robbery suspect from Michigan shot himself in the head when authorities tracked him down in Alpharetta.
Police were pinging the suspect’s cellphone and found him in the area of Old Milton Parkway and North Point Parkway.
Channel 2's Mike Petchenik is at North Point Daycare Center, where police are investigating the shooting. Police said the suspect is dead.
Detectives in Michigan contacted Forsyth authorities about the suspect, who was wanted in several robberies. Michigan authorities alerted local officers that the suspect was in the area. An Alpharetta lieutenant spotted him at Old Milton and started pursuing the suspect.
Police said the suspect shot and killed himself in the head when they got to a nearby strip mall.
Police are gathering evidence at the scene and working with Michigan authorities to get more information.
