Police: Woman who stole cruiser, crashed on I-75 was on synthetic pot

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Cobb County police say a woman who stole a cruiser and sped down Interstate 75 last weekend was high on synthetic marijuana.

According to the newly released criminal warrant, Emmerli Wilcoxson drove the stolen cruiser on I-75 southbound beginning at Windy Hill Road. Police said she fled officers, failed to maintain her lane, drove at speeds exceeding 130 MPH and screamed into the police radio before finally causing a serious crash at the North Avenue exit in downtown Atlanta.

Police said Wilcoxson ran the car into the back of a Chevy Cavalier, sending them both into the wall. Police say the Cavalier then hit another vehicle. In total, four cars were involved in the crash.

Police said the driver of the Cavalier, Greg Titus, suffered severe injuries to his lower body and had to be extracted from the car.

Following the crash, police said Wilcoxson got out of her car and charged at officers before she was subdued.

Wilcoxson was taken to the Cobb County Jail over the weekend after being  treated for severe head trauma at Grady Memorial Hospital.

The incident closed southbound lanes of I-75 for several hours on Aug. 10.
