Police in Texas search for missing woman with ties to Atlanta area

ATLANTA — Police in Texas are searching for a missing woman who grew up in the Atlanta area. Her family and friends worry she may be in danger.

Leanne Hecht Bearden was visiting her in-laws near San Antonio when she went out for a walk last Friday. She hasn't been heard from since.

Bearden graduated from Roswell High School and her parents still live in the Atlanta metro area.

Her brother, Michael Hecht, told Channel 2 Action News that Leanne is very fit and outdoorsy, but left wearing only a T-shirt and jeans.

"We're very concerned. She left of her own free will to go for a walk and that's all we know," said Michael Hecht. "We're wondering what's happened. Maybe she went for a hike, saw a nice place somewhere she could hike and maybe is hurt, or has fallen over. We don't know."

Hecht said Leanne and her husband, Josh Bearden, had just returned from a two-year trip around the world. They had stopped in Texas to visit with family before moving to the Denver area.

Searchers have canvassed the area, but found no clues.

"Her husband is devastated right now and is extremely worried. We're just trying to help out the Police Department as much as we can canvassing the area, even going father out than we think she may be. But we have absolutely no idea where she is," Hecht said.

Her family says Leanne still has many friends in the Atlanta metro area and is hoping anyone with information on her whereabouts will contact the Garden Ridge Police Department in Texas at 210-651-6441.
