DEKALB COUNTY, Ga - DeKalb County police received several 911 calls about a body lying near the road by a shopping center early Thursday and found a man shot several times.

After several people saw a man down lying on South Hairston Road in need of medical attention, they called 911.

Detective David Findaly said the victim, 49-year-old John Griffin, died at the hospital.

In the hours since, gathering information and clues continues to be difficult for police.

"We didn't find any of his personal effects on him driver license no wallet. Could have been a robbery, could have not had it when he left the house or where ever he was coming from,” said Findaly. “But we know he didn't have anything on him.”

The crime scene has raised eyebrows at a hair salon, not too far from the scene.

“You want to work in environment where there is security and know you can come to work in a safe environment this is really scary that this is in right in the parking lot of where you work,” said stylist Arlethia Dukes.
