Police search for men caught on camera damaging police car

ATLANTA — Atlanta police are asking for the public's help in identifying a group of people who were recorded on video trashing a patrol car. An APD officer left the squad car while trying to arrest people riding through the city in four wheelers.

Video posted on social media shows two people run on top of the Atlanta police squad car, jump on the hood and windshield.

"The damage that put this car out of action is the damage to that windshield," APD Sgt. Greg Lyon said.

Lyon told Channel 2's Amy Napier-Viteri the officer was out trying to arrest someone for driving an ATV illegally near the intersection of Marietta Street and Northside Drive.

That's when other riders climbed up and badly damaged the car. The dashcam captured these images of the men police are now trying to identify.

"Sunday night, there were hundreds of ATV and motorcycle riders riding around the city confesting traffic disregarding the traffic laws," Lyon said.

Police arrest several members of the ATV riding group, including Kirk Frost, a man who appeared on TV's Love and Hip Hop Atlanta.

Police say Frost, 46, ran several red lights and was driving the wrong way down the street.
