MABLETON, Ga. - Police now say the call about a knife-wielding man at a Cobb County middle school was a hoax.
School officials say the false report came from a student who was skipping class and trying to divert attention.
Officers went classroom-to-classroom at Lindley Middle School to search for the person after a call came in to police around 10 a.m. to report an armed man on the campus. The school was placed on lockdown.
Channel 2's Ross Cavitt is at the scene gathering more information. Check back with WSBTV.com and watch Channel 2 Action News for more information.
