MABLETON, Ga. - Police now say the call about a knife-wielding man at a Cobb County middle school was a hoax.
School officials say the false report came from a student who was skipping class and trying to divert attention.
Officers went classroom-to-classroom at Lindley Middle School to search for the person after a call came in to police around 10 a.m. to report an armed man on the campus. The school was placed on lockdown.
