COBB COUNTY, Ga. - A woman reported killing an attacker that she said kidnapped and sexually assaulted her.
Clayton County police responded to a house on Kirk Drive just before 7 a.m. on Monday.
Police said the initial call was reported to Cobb
County. They called Clayton County when the location of attack was identified.
"We met with the victim who advised that she was brought into our county and sexually assaulted," said Clayton County Sgt. Otis Willis.
Police spent nearly 10 hours collecting clues at the home where they said the victim got the upper hand on her attacker.
"During the process of her being assaulted, she was able to obtain a handgun and she fired upon the perpetrator several times," said Willis.
The accused attacker died on scene.
"It's just shocking to me," said neighbor Bermazell Newsome. "Kidnap her right under your nose and you have kids out here in the yard playing. You never know what might happen."
While Newsome is shocked, another neighbor who did not want to be identified
cast doubt on the report.
She said she knew the man who was killed, and said her window was open through the night and she never heard a thing.
Police say they're pursuing the case as it was reported, but say the details are still under investigation.
