Police: Robbers, victim critically injured in East Point shootout

EAST POINT, Ga. - A home invasion in East Point ended in a gun battle, injuring two suspects and a victim.

Police said two men were trying to rob another man at an apartment on Desert Drive late Thursday night, but the resident shot at them.

The robbers shot back, and officers found all three with several gunshot wounds, police said.

Officers said the suspects were found a few feet away from the apartment, and one was begging for help.

“He was sitting down, and his legs were folded, the other one was laid straight out,” witness Dekeadra Hayes said.

Detectives said at least one of the suspects was on probation and had an outstanding warrant.

All three are listed in critical but stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Police said they believe robbery was the motive, but they’re looking into whether the men were after drugs or money.
