Police: Robber hits 20 dollar stores in 5 months

ATLANTA — Officers in several metro Atlanta agencies, along with the FBI, are looking for a serial robber.

Authorities believe the robber has held up 20 dollar stores since February, including 13 in DeKalb County. The other police agencies involved are in Atlanta, Lilburn, Henry and Gwinnett counties.

Police believe the suspect cases the stores before he robs them. He's considered to be armed and dangerous.

"No one has been hurt to this point, but with the frequency that we are seeing this, we have to make sure everyone remains safe and we can get this guy off the street as soon as we can," said DeKalb County Police Chief Cedric Alexander.

The most recent armed robbery happened Wednesday around 2 p.m. in Henry County. Police believe the robber uses a silver getaway SUV, and may have an accomplice waiting inside.

Police have released surveillance images from a Family Dollar in Lithonia. Anyone who recognizes the man in the photos should call the Crimestoppers tip line at 404-577-8477.

"What I'm asking this community to do throughout this entire metro community, if you have seen this individual, if you know who he is, please give us a call," said Alexander.
