NORTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. - Johns Creek police say a shooting outside a local auto repair shop was not random.
Investigators said Anthony Davis, 37, was shot several times in the chest and body at a business at the corner of Old Alabama and Jones Bridge Roads on April 20. The victim's friends drove him to a Roswell fire station, where an ambulance was called.
According to a Roswell police report, the alleged suspect is Jason Culmer, 46, of Johns Creek.
"We know our victim was
targeted," Johns Creek Police Chief Ed Densmore said. "It wasn't a random event. We can't know exactly why he was targeted until we take the gentleman into custody."
A witness to the shooting, who didn't want to be identified, told Channel 2's Mike Petchenik that Davis was getting his brakes repaired when Culmer, who was at a nearby pharmacy, showed up and shot him.
ZIP code immune to crime, but this certainly isn't an everyday situation for us up here," Densmore said. "We have to keep it that way."
Densmore told Petchenik investigators believe Culmer is hiding out in his
native Philadelphia, and police are asking for information that will lead to his arrest.
"We're reaching out to the authorities up there and some federal resources to help us track him down," Densmore said.
