Police: Man shoots brother before attempting suicide

ATLANTA — Police are investigating a shooting involving two brothers at the Rolling Bends Apartments in northwest Atlanta.

Police were dispatched around noon to a “person shot” call at 2500 Center St., where they found a man sprawled across the pavement in front of apartment unit 212.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, had a gunshot wound on the left side of his face, police said. The gunman, who police said is the brother of the victim, ran to the parking lot.

Police said the suspect then fired a round from a handgun into the side of his neck in an apparent suicide attempt.

Both men were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the suspect is facing aggravated assault charges.
