Police: Man carjacked, forced to get money from ATM, beaten

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Police have arrested two men suspected in the violent carjacking, kidnapping and robbery of a 69-year-old man, but three more are still wanted.

Clayton County police said the crimes happened Monday morning at the victim's job.

"As he was exiting his vehicle, he was approached by five black males who pulled weapons and demanded money," Maj. Johnny Robinson of the Clayton County Police Department said.

When the victim told the men he did not have any money, they allegedly drove him to the Chevron station on Riverdale Road and forced him to remove money from an ATM. Police said the men then beat and kicked the victim.

"As they were driving off, one of the suspects said, 'We need to go ahead and kill him.' At that point they drove off, thank God," Robinson said.

Police said surveillance footage from the convenience store helped them identify the suspects they have in custody.

Officers arrested the two suspects at the Amberwood Apartment Homes in Riverdale late Thursday night. Police said they confessed to the robbery.
