Police: Man assaults stepfather in Henry County standoff

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — A man is in custody after a standoff left his stepfather injured, police said.

Overnight dozens of police cars blocked the entrance to the Parkview subdivision in Henry County.

It all started late Sunday night when officers got a call about a confrontation between a stepfather and his stepson.

“He did say that the stepson struck him with a weapon. We actually observed the weapon,” Henry County police Capt. Joey Smith said.

He suffered an injury to his head.

The suspect then ran inside the house with his sister inside.

Four hours later, hostage negotiators determined he wasn't there.

Officers found him in the subdivision after calls of a suspicious person in the area.

Police said the suspect’s little girl was home alone when officers rushed inside.
