Police want to question man about hit-and-run

PALMETTO, Ga.,None — Police are searching for a driver who hit an elderly man who was walking his dog in south Fulton County.

Authorities told Channel 2 Action News that 78-year-old Jack Turner was on Carlton Road Friday afternoon near the adult care facility where he lives.

Two employees told Channel 2's Eric Philips they heard the accident and the aftermath.

"I heard a car slam on the brakes and heard the dog barking," Ashley Herd said.

"I heard the dog hollering like he had been hit," Tomekia Robinson told Philips.

Herd and Philips went outside and found Turner lying in the road and moaning in pain. They did not see the car that struck him and police have no description.

"The only thing I kept saying was, 'Call 911, call 911,'" Herd said.

Turner was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with internal injuries and broken bones. Turner's dog may be injured too but the dog has vanished.

"It's a little beagle. I know one of the residents saw him run to the back. He might be hit too cause there's no sign of the dog. There's no blood from the dog, no leash, nothing," Herd said.
