COLLEGE PARK, Ga. - Fulton police believe robbery was the motive behind a triple shooting early Tuesday morning.
Police said four people tried to rob two men outside their apartment at the Biscayne Apartments on Old National Highway in College Park, but the robbery quickly turned into a shootout.
Evelyn Harris said she was outside her apartment when several shots rang out.
“All of a sudden I heard outside two different gunshots. One was louder than the other and I just figured it was some type of drive-by or something like that,” Harris said.
“Shots were exchanged as they were trying to get into their apartment. Both victims returned fire and shot one or possibly two of the perpetrators,” Sgt. Scott McBride of the Fulton County Police Department said.
Officers found one of the robbery suspects, who had been shot in the back, near a nightclub. Police arrested him. The two robbery victims were also shot and rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said they are looking for three more robbery suspects, one of whom may have been shot.
