Police: Joy-riding teens crash stolen car into Atlanta creek

ATLANTA — A wild joyride in a stolen car ended with a crash that sent two cars plunging into a creek Thursday.

Police told Channel 2’s Tom Regan they are still searching for one of the suspects.

The wreck happened when two cars, one stolen, collided on Burbank Drive in Atlanta. The force of the collision sent both cars over an embankment and into a creek.

The stolen car wound up on its side. %

Philip Foster told Regan he has seen better days.

It was his car that ended up lying in the creek bed, totaled.

“Somebody stole my car. I found it. Then they stole it again while I was waiting for a locksmith,” Foster said.

Police said four people, possibly young teens, stole the car and went speeding down Burbank Drive.

Their car crashed head-on into another car heading the opposite way.

A woman who lives next door, who didn't wish to be identified, witnessed the chaotic scene.

“Just heard a loud boom,” the woman said.

Police have arrested three suspects. Officers told Regan there were no life-threatening injuries for anyone involved in the wreck.
