Family outraged by officer-involved shooting

Detectives say they are unable to determine how long the investigation will take.

ATLANTA - Police said a man wounded in an officer-involved shooting was walking around a neighborhood with a loaded shotgun during the incident.

The shooting happened at approximately 11:30 a.m. in the 500 block of Paines Avenue near North Avenue in northwest Atlanta.

Relatives of Eric Williams said the incident has left them upset because they do not believe the 18-year-old had a gun.

Channel 2's Ryan Young spoke to Williams' brother, who said he found the teen "laying on the ground stretched out" after running from police following a traffic stop.

Within minutes, Chopper 2 was flying over the scene,  where scores of investigators assembled to find out what happened before the officer opened fire.

A preliminary investigation is under way.
