Police investigate fatal rush-hour shooting

ATLANTA — Atlanta police are investigating a shooting that has left one person dead; right in the middle of a busy intersection during rush hour.

It happened near the intersection of Ponce de Leon and Moreland avenues at about 4 p.m. Friday.

Police have not released very many details as to what happened.

Witnesses at the scene told Channel 2's Tom Jones that two men in a Cadillac Escalade got out of their vehicle and opened fire at the driver in the car in front of them.

Jones counted as many as 10 markers on the road where bullets had landed from the shooting.

Witnesses said the man's car then rolled through the intersection and hit a telephone pole.

The shooters then fled the scene, according to witnesses.
