EAST POINT, Ga. - Police are searching for a man suspected in a shooting that killed the owner of a popular East Point restaurant.
Police said 27-year-pld Yusuf Abdul Alkarim shot and killed Riyadh Nuriddin, 36, of Austell. Nuriddin was found dead shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday at Ikhlas Superb Seafood in the 2700 block of Sylvan Road, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office.
Authorities said the motive appears to be robbery.
Channel 2 Action News spoke to the brother of the father of three after the shooting.
"He focused on the positive and not on the negative and that's what you want to do now. That's exactly what I want to do,” Mustafaa Nuriddin told Channel 2’s Kerry Kavanaugh.
He found out what happened when his sister called early Wednesday.
"She said that there's been an incident at Mom's restaurant. You may want to call Riyadh and make sure he's OK," Mustafaa Nurridin said.
When Nurridin called his little brother, he got no answer. His heart sank.
"You know one way to touch people's soul is when you feed them so, my brother touched a lot of souls,” Mustafaa said. “He fed a lot of people.”
Nuriddin's funeral will be held Sunday, relatives said.
