Dunwoody shopping center theft suspect arrested after shooting

DUNWOODY, Ga. — Dunwoody police have arrested a man whom they said fled from officers at Perimeter Station Shopping Center near Perimeter Mall.

News Chopper 2 flew over the roped-off Bassett Furniture parking lot around 4:45 p.m. Friday. There were at least three police cars in the area, one of which was rammed into a Dodge Intrepid. There appeared to be bullet holes in the car's window.

Police said they were responding to a report of a car theft in progress when the suspect tried to get away. In the process, he struck four cars, including two police cars, and drove toward an officer, police said.

"At that time, a Dunwoody officer discharged his firearm to protect the lives and safety of police officers and pedestrians in the area," Dunwoody police said in a news release.

A witness said he ducked down as shots rang out in the lot.

No injuries were reported.

Police arrested 20-year-old Robert Goodman. His charges include theft, aggravated assault against an officer and hit-and-run.
