Police: Fleeing driver slammed stolen car into parked cars, house

ATLANTA — A man fleeing from a traffic stop crashed into several cars before hitting a northwest Atlanta home, police say.

Police said officers tried to pull over a car that was driving slowly with its lights off around 2 a.m., but the driver took off, barreling into at least six cars parked on Holmes Street. Officers initiated a chase, but called it off due to high speeds, police said.

Officers finally caught the driver after the car crashed into a home and the man tried to flee on foot, police said.

A neighbor told Channel 2's Sophia Choi the car found upside down belonged to him and was stolen overnight.

"Car went into the front corner of the kitchen, so it's a big mess. A lot to do today," homeowner Ben Bickerstaff said.

The driver, who police identified as Secrick Scott, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Scott has been charged with obstructing officers, damage to property, theft by receiving stolen property, DUI and attempting to elude police.
