ATLANTA - One person is dead and another seriously injured following a shootout at an Atlanta apartment. Witnesses told police the shootout was between two groups in the breezeway of the Daron Village apartments on Harwell Road in northwest Atlanta.
When officers arrived, they found one man shot. He was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital. As officers canvassed the complex, they found another man with several gunshot wounds dead behind a building.
According to Atlanta Police Homicide Commander Paul Guerrucci, the motive was robbery, but they are trying to piece together who was the victim and who was the robber.
“Not sure the exact relationship or if it was two different groups involved in the gun battle which resulted in the other person being killed,” Guerrucci said.
The father of the man taken to Grady said his son told him the dead man tried to rob him.
“Guy pulled out a gun and shot my son twice then ran,” John Tillman said.
