5-year-old hit, killed in DeKalb County

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County police are investigating after a 5-year-old boy was hit and killed at the Kensington Station Apartments on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the 5-year-old was walking with an 8-year-old boy when the victim was somehow hit on Club Drive, a street inside the complex on  Kensington Road and Memorial Drive.

News Chopper 2’s Jason Durden flew over the scene just after 4 p.m., where investigators were taking pictures around a FedEx truck at the intersection when the child was hit. The truck driver was stopped, questioned and then released, Channel 2's Erica Byfield learned at the scene.

She said investigators are not sure if the FedEx driver hit the boy, because they are hearing conflicting reports from witnesses.

The case is under investigation.
