Police chase closes I-85 in Jackson Co.

JACKSON COUNTY, Ga. — A police chase closed lanes of Interstate 85 in Jackson County on Friday morning, authorities said.

Investigators shut down all northbound lanes of the interstate at Highway 53 about 4 a.m. for nearly an hour.

Police told Channel 2's Mark Arum that the chase started in DeKalb County and stretched through Gwinnett and Barrow counties before it ended.

A Georgia State Patrol spokesman said the vehicle would not stop when a trooper tried to pull over the driver on I-85 near Pleasant Hill Road.

A state trooper performed a pit maneuver ending the chase.

The driver is in custody and no one was injured, officials said.
