Police arrest man accused in brick-wielding attacks

ATLANTA — People in a southwest Atlanta neighborhood are grateful police charged a man in series of robberies and attacks involving women.

Channel 2's Amanda Cook went to the Duo Condominiums on Chapel Street in southwest Atlanta where one of those attacks happened in a parking garage.

Police showed Channel 2 Action News a surveillance video of one of the attacks. It shows a man, who police later identified as Brian Duncan, hitting a woman several times with a brick and then kicking her before stealing her purse.

Police also gave Channel 2 surveillance video from Monday which shows a woman walking to her building on Magnum Street. Seconds later, the man later identified as Duncan allegedly came sprinting toward her, overtaking her at the door.

Police said he stabbed the woman's hands as he tried to steal her purse, but she managed to chase him down with her car until police got there.

Police said Duncan is the man in both videos.

Police said Duncan is responsible for several robberies and faces four counts of armed robbery charges.

Cassandra Redd, meanwhile, said she recognized Duncan right away as the man who attacked her with a brick and stole her purse in December.
