Police arrest Buckhead bank robbery suspect

ATLANTA — Atlanta police are investigating a robbery at a Buckhead bank Monday.

The robbery happened at Fifth Third Bank on Peachtree Road. Police said they were called in around 11 a.m.

An officer spotted someone whom police believe is the robber, but they said the man took off. Then, police set up a perimeter and tracked down a suspect nearby.

"All we know is that he fits the description, based on the description given by the bank manager, and he has been identified by that bank manager as the person who was in the bank at the time of the robbery," Atlanta police Capt. Adam Lee told Channel 2's Sophia Choi.

The suspect was arrested on Rumson Road. News Chopper 2 flew over the area, where at least six police cars were swarming near Fellini's Pizza.

Police told Choi that investigators are interviewing the suspect to see if he has a history of crime.
