CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. - Authorities say a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday night in Cherokee County.
The incident happened on Ga. 92 west of Wade Green Road at about 9:30 p.m.
Herrera Mendez, 52, was crossing the highway in a dimly lit area and not using a crosswalk when he was hit by a Nissan SUV traveling westbound on Ga. 92, Cherokee Sheriff's Office officials said.
Mendez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cherokee Sheriff's Lt. Jay Baker said evidence showed no indication that the driver was speeding or impaired at time of the collision.
The case is under investigation.
