KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw police have identified a 20-year-old pedestrian involved in a fatal crash.
The accident happened around 4 a.m. on Cobb Parkway between Mack Dobbs and Pine Mountain roads, near the entrance to The Woodslands of Kennesaw mobile home park.
Kennesaw police spokesman Scott Luther said the southbound driver who struck the woman “called us and said something to the effect that he believed he hit something, he wasn’t sure what.”
When officers arrived on the scene, they found the woman who had been hit, Luther said. She was identified as Hannah M. Straton of Kennesaw.
Cobb County police investigators on the scene told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Straton was in the middle of the road when she was struck, and that the driver will not face charges. Investigators said alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the collision.
One southbound lane of Cobb Parkway was closed as police investigated the accident, but reopened just after 6 a.m.
